tuesday

i'm no closer to having a job today than i was in november. the economy is a mess and nothing seems to be bringing it up out of the cellar. i don't envy obama, he's got quite a job on his hands. wonder if he's having second thoughts. . .

90% of my internet searches have begun with the characters "rv +" as i continue to try to figure out what in the world is the root problem with the water system. we pulled the toilet yesterday to replace a valve or two. when wallace opened up one of the parts, we discovered calcification that was the size of aquarium gravel and completely blocked the outlet port. hmmm.

so i started searching "rv +" again. we have a problem on the drain side (stopping up) as well as the intake side, as evidenced by the toilet issue. i think i've got a plan of attack and purchased 6 gallons of vinegar. i've drained the fresh water, replaced it with vinegar and the water system can now be turned back on once the toilet has been put back together and reinstalled in the bathroom. the shower is clear, the kitchen and bathroom sinks both got a gallon of vinegar yesterday. it has been sitting overnight. i will test it shortly.

i need to make yet another run to the rv store to purchase a new shower handle. the one that is currently attached is a bit, rugged. may as well replace it while i have it off. w will put it back on later today and we'll fire up the water pump to get some of that vinegar up in the different appliances. the theory is, once the vinegar is pumped into the appliance, it will work it's magic by eating the calcium "rocks".

i have hope that it will indeed work, the pebbles that littered the shower floor have turned to dust having vinegar overflow sitting on it for a few hours. we will need to rinse repeatedly and it will take a while.

i'm hoping that once we've got this done, our last two problems will disappear and we'll be fully functional.

it sure has been fun, even with the remaining problems. it's been outstanding to have the bathroom. i listed to the coyotes howling the other night and had to smile to myself as i knew that we were all safely tucked away from harms way. i could hear the furnace kicking in to keep the kids warm during the night.

yep, we're going to us it a lot.

i'm sparkley red

my toes now sport a coating of bright, sparkley red. it was a great trip, nice, relaxing.

on thursday i had victoria all day. i'm never quite sure what she can handle. i've since discovered that it's certainly not too much spare time. spare time typically turns into "i'll make a mess of everything," time. so we kept busy. she's old enough now where i could tell her in the beginning all the different errands that we had to do. as we arrived at our second stop, she said "here we are!"

every time we'd climb back into the car, she's say "ready or not, here we come!" and off we'd go again. she was perfect. she stayed with a friend when i had to haul things back to my car, stayed with me when things were hectic in the parking lots. and she got to play in the rv, do a little shopping and watch her favorite, spongebob, at night.

today i was up and out fairly early. i got the stickers for the offroad bikes. just another way to tax something i think. and then i meandered. i checked out a couple of places i hadn't been before, checked out a couple i don't need to go to again, and found a new-to-me rv center. they gave me a catalog upon learning that w and i are new to rv-ing.

and the whole rv thing has been a trip. we go from super frustrated to laughing about it all. there are so many things that are specific to rvs. all things are made to fit a doll house. shrunken versions of everyday things with an emphasis on folding. i bought a broom that folds up so small it can fit in your pocket. i just walked the store to see if there was anything i couldn't live without, or something that would increase my comfort. heh, there will always be something, won't there?

we're headed out again this weekend. this time we will be armed with heat (which we probably won't need), good hiking shoes for the kids, toothbrushes, riding gear, hot water, water that drains. next week, when it's not so critical, i will get the toilet back in tip top working order. right now we can make it work. and i must say, it is infinitely easier to camp with a toilet than without. christopher rides his dirtbike for hours and victoria plays with everything in the rv. i'll try to lure her out and do some hiking this time.

me day

today is a self-proclaimed me day. i'm going to do only those things that i want to do, nothing more. i'm not going to be derailed by anyone's else problems, their need for a ride, their need to have a child watched, their need at all.

i'm going to get a pedicure and my eyebrows shaped, that will be worth every penny. i'll also be chasing down some elusive parts for the rv. we've figured out much since our maiden voyage and i look forward to camping again this weekend.

my plague is finally starting to clear. my right ear remains in the ornamental only category, but the left one is almost functional once again. that is good news.

the job search is s-l-o-w, not that i could have done too much this week. i would have had to ask for things to be repeated continually. probably NOT the impression i'm wanting to leave.

so i'm off to begin my me day, wish me luck!

recovering

i'm recovering this week from this nasty headcold. honestly, it's just debilitating.

i've managed to spread it to my precious granddaughter and husband. my bad. i'm lying low after my attempt to carry on a normal life on monday failed miserably. i decided that i would not leave the house until i was fully recovered.

okay, so that didn't work.

although i haven't blown it by much. i did go to the dmv on wednesday and get the title transferred for the r.v. luckily i didn't need much of my hearing for that since it seems to have gone south on me. my ears are plugged, not all that bad considering the sneezing, coughing and whining that plague my house right now.

and today i had victoria for a while. she is such a dear and so desperately sick with the plague her grandmother gave her. my little hurricane crawled up in my lap, put her head on my shoulder and said "i not feel good." poor dear.

so we watched sponge bob, laid on the princess pillow, snuggled in the princess blanket until we both took a nap. she outlasted me, but when her little eyes popped open, she was ready for that promise of a trip to the nail shop for a manicure/pedicure.

she chose pink of course, and the lady added an extra coat of clear sparkle to take it all up a notch. she went home to mommy with bling and a heavy head. i saw christopher long enough to get him pumped for a weekend camping. he loves that and is looking forward to it.

my job tomorrow is to get the train loaded and ready to go!

and now i'm recuperating from the nasty cold/fever/cough thing that plagues half the country.
