been a while. . .
hardly post to facebook anymore either. i've been extremely busy.
we purchased an investment home about a month ago. i've spent countless hours since them working on the pool, cleaning the filth in the house and interviewing, negotiating, selecting and scheduling the various contractors needed to get it where it needs to be.
as with all things, the budget is a challenge and the timeline is getting a bit tighter than i'd like. our first renters are due to move in december 1.
so far the pool has been taken from a swampy green to a bright, sparkling azure blue. if the water wasn't so chilly, it would be quite inviting. it took 12 gallons of liquid chlorine, 2 backwashes and 3 days of filter running to get there, but it was worth it.
the PO (previous owner) was a do-it-yourselfer that didn't really possess the skills of a professional. some of his work is suspect, but most just was never finished. he installed french doors in both the bedroom and family room. they are of good quality, and the installation job wasn't terrible, but he never did the finishing work around the jambs, etc. same with another door he installed in the kitchen. the doors do have those blinds within the window which is cool. he put in granite tile countertops in the kitchen, new cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. tiled the house with the exception of the bedrooms.
picked up a washer/dryer set last night. $200 for a pair of maytag neptune front loader machines. gotta love craigslist! and a special thank you to hubby for pulling out the trailer, driving up to purchase them and then on to the house to deliver them. that's over 100 miles round trip. what a bargain!
the contractors start the repair work next tuesday. they will be done hopefully by the end of the week. we need to have a pool fence installed and then should be able to wrap it all up with some painting. woohoo there is light at the end of the tunnel.
then i really need to get a job.
